System Shock Remector System Shock wants to make a “XCOM” strategy in the same world

System Shock remake may have already been released, but this does not mean that the developer Nightdive Studios committed IP.

Soon Remaster System Shock 2 will come out, but it can be not all. Nightdive Director General and Gamdirector System Shock Stephen Kick told in an interview about the development of the game. Toward the end of the conversation, Kick said that the team may have plans for the future of the franchise, but it is not necessary to immediately go to the System Shock 2 remake.

"There were many discussions about what we want to do next, ”Kick said, – "Whether it will be a full -fledged System Shock 2 System or we want to give Enhanced Edition a little to breathe a little".

"But we talked about exploring the System Shock universe in different genres. Perhaps the XCOM-like game, the action of which takes place before the events of the System Shock 1, where you are resistance at the Citadel station, which fights cyborgs and Shodan machines. Personally, I think that it would be very cool. Survive it from a different angle".

Naturally, this is not a confirmation that Nightdive Studios really works on a strategic game like XCOM 2, in the System Shock universe. But this, of course, is a good idea.

In the System Shock, meanwhile, how the character breaks Shodan to remove ethical restrictions from it, and how he comes to his senses after the postoperative medical coma, takes about six months, which leaves Nightdive a lot of time to create a strategic game. You will play for the staff of the Citadel station – presumably the very people whose audio recordings you will later collect in the original game – while they tried to confront the SHODAN uprising and "fought with cyborgs and Shodan cars as they could", Kick said.

Nightdive has already done most of hard work to create Asset for System Shock remake. The labyrinth structure of the Citadel station and close corridors could be an excellent material for the design of levels in a step -by -step strategy.

Regardless of whether we will get something similar, say, System Shock Tactics or not, the future of the series looks positive for Nightdive Studios. Given the fact that the remake was highly appreciated by critics and showed good sales, it is unlikely that the team has already ended with the franchise.
